They have this really weird fashion here in oslo. It's these one piece overalls that I wore when I was a kid. You see people wearing them here on the street instead of sweatpants! AND they're super expensive too!

I have a hard time seeing that trend in Stockholm.

Yesterday I met up with Kari Turner, my second cousin, and we had some coffee and chated for an hour or so. Before I was starving and had to get home for dinner. Norway is so expensive so its not like you can just grab a snack.. Anyway it was really nice to see her and hear about her Oslo experiences and adventures.

Today I went to Moss after lunch to visit Ellen, who is a Art Director at Tikktakk. She has worked with HH since 1995 and even sat Inhouse for 10 years! So she has got a lot of experience and I was thrilled that she invited me over for the afternoon. Tikktakk is located in Moss which is south of Oslo and they have their office in the coolest buildning. Very modern with windows everywhere and high celings. Ellen also had her dog at the office whom I fell in love with. It was a 2 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, you always wanted one of those right mom? She was really intense and almost crazy, rolling around on the floor just to get some attention! I couldn't stop laughing! We got some work done to... I made prototypes of a new HH package that I can't tell you more about because it's a secret! But I can tell you it's starting to look pretty good. Now I just have to convince marketing to go for my suggestion.

And today the people living in Oslo have recoverd from the snowstorm that chocked everyone yesterday. Itwas nice +16 C outside and sunny, so all the cafés with outdoor seating where packed with pale norwegians trying to get some vitamin D.

I was HOME for the weekend and it was so nice to see everyone again! I love it here in Oslo, but I really miss my family and Seb. But as I sat on the plane 'home' again, I realized that I really enjoy Oslo. I guess you don't appreciate the city you grew up in as much, because I think Oslo is so much nicer than Stockholm. It really isn't, but I just get that feeling when I'm walking around here. I am thankful for having this opportunity to have a internship abroad and I am glad that I did take the initiative to come here. But I still wish Seb would be here with me...

Monday again. This previous week has been intense here at the headquarters. Everybody was getting ready for the big sales meeting in Strømstad, so if I tried to ask about something I just got a hand whiff and a 'don't have time now, next week, i just have to answer this call' and so on. Today the office is empty, just me and a few more people. Silence.

Tomorrow I'm going down to Strømstad to see the big fashion show. I'm very excited, even though a lot of people have said not to have to much expectations, since it's a sales fashion show for HH only. Not a big runway show. But I'm still very excited to see the Winter11 collection. On wednesday I'm going to have a little talk to the sales people. It's important that they get a saying in this new packaging project in a early stage. I have a lot of ideas, Ida (the designer) has a lot of ideas and now we just have to add the sales peoples ideas to the pile. And then we are taking in focus groups. A lot of work lies a head.

This weekend I have strolled down in 'Byen' as they call it. Saturday was crazy, they had this huge market thing going on at one of the main shopping streets. All the stores had big sales and tents out front with special offers. I bought two body butters from The Body Shop for 200 Nkr! In Sweden they cost 200 Sek a piece, so I thought that was a pretty good deal. It was people everywhere grabbing everything they could get a hold on. Then they also had a inner city running race. It was a 800 m race, so it wasn't far, but there were so many people running it! And so many people cheering on. So I stopped and watched it for almost an hour. Then I went to a nice little coffee shop that was called 'People and Coffee', which had surf inspired decorating and the best chicken and hummus sandwich. I really like that they serve alcohol at the cafés here in oslo. It looks nice to sit and have a glass of wine with your food in a homey environment. Maybe I should start a nice café/bar, I know that they've discussed it in Sweden. Now you can only serve alcohol if you have warm food I think. In my café/bar there's going to be boardgames to borrow, a little library section, Kate Melua songs coming out from the speakers and the best homemade baked goods. Only 5 different salads and say 8 different sandwich options on the menu.

Anyhow, like I said to my mom, I have found out know after two weeks that I love this environment at HH. I like the outdoor clothing business and would love to continue working in this business. I don't know if packaging is the only thing I want t o work with. I'm getting more and more interested in the hole development part, the design process that has to work with all the different materials and textiles, and then finally production. I also really enjoy the marketing part, we had some courses at school that I found very interesting, but now in the product area of my intreats it has taken me by storm. I think I still want to work with product development though. Right now I just don't know if I have to study something more, or if there is some job out there for me with the education I've got so far. I would love a assistant job to start, and then work my way up.

Anyway... My weekend. Sunday I took a long walk with Maia, the dog. It was really warm in the sun, but as soon as the sun disappeared it was pretty cold. Then I took 'trikken in the byen' and had coffee at a nice bakery on Aker Brygge. I had a cappuccino, a almond croissant and the latest Elle magazine.

AND I forgot to tell you about friday. We went on a after work, not at all common in Norway. It was this really cool bar with maps on the walls and people in every age. You brought your own food and bought drinks there. I had spicy tuna maki rolls (sushi) that were delicious and some beer imported from Prague in a cool bottle (yes, a bit of a packaging nerd). I had a very good time and I think it was good to see and talk to some of my work colleagues out of work.

I think I covered it all.

Sitting here at HH waiting for lunch. This first week has been so much fun, but a lot of hard work to start things of. Not only do I have to remember everybodys names I also got two projects going. One packaging 'line' for mens, womens, and kids baselayer, and I'm also responsible for a ready to sell display for beanies, socks, and mittens. A lot of meetings trying to please everybody from sales, designers and marketing. I have to take a lot of own initiative and have a lot of responsibility. But I'm really enjoying myself! Luckily I don't have any friends here yet... But tonight I have my fist volleyball practice with the Koll team. And I'm really excited for that, it will be good to get up and moving after two weeks of rest.

This weekend we were up at Beitostølen were Eva and Gisle have a nice little cabin from the 50's. Eva, Maia (the dog) and I too a 2 hour ski up in the mountains. The weather kept on shifting, it was sunny then snowing, then sunny, then raining. It felt so good to breath in all that fresh air, but I was completely out of it all night. We also went to a after ski and drank beer. I got to borrow traditional norwegian after ski wear which was leather knickers. I thought I looked like a dork, but eva insisted that everybody weares them. When we got to the place I didn't se ANYBODY wearing them! Especially not kids my ages, it was the usual jeans and hoodie thing there. But I had fun and tried to follow the conversation.

It is hard to understand norwegian some times, especially because they just assume I understand everything since I'm swedish. Some accents are impossible. I'll give it another week then I'm switching to english.

We won the 3rd quarterfinal yesterday. A win on tuesday and we are in the semis! I came in and played backrow setter in 4 of the 5 sets. Played good enough to feel satisfied.

Seb and I are seening U2 July 6th in Chicago. We thought we would take a couple of sightseeing days and then go upp to Door.

The swedish word "fika" is one of the best words.

The best fika we get when we're on the road for away games. We stop at a place called Dinners were we have food, usually pasta. Then we get this amazing snack package with a smoothie, coffee in the nicest pink cups, a fantastic sandwich and a fruit. Thanks Dinners!

This pic is from my first Starbucks fika in Sweden. Starbucks opened there first cafe at Arlanda the week before my Oslo trip. So I orderd a tall Carmel Macchiato. Luckely for me the girl that makes the coffee misheard the lady at the cash register so I got the biggest size. It's been a bit of a debate about Starbucks here in Sweden about the high priceing. A tall Macchiato was 36 SEK. I think that that is a fairly normal price, since both Waynes Coffee and Espresso House (the two big swedish coffee chains) take 30 + SEK for their coffee. Anyhow, it was delicious.

Todays project; Making a homemade Princesstårta from scratch. My friend Sandy, from school, is turning 25 on Friday. So my other friend Anneli came over and helped prepare lunch and the cake. The recipe was from Leilas 'Piece of cake'. It was very easy and only took 40 minutes. Including the decorating!

I'm feeling better, and have started to work out again. :-) It was wierd not speaking for days, but I immedeatly felt a diffrence in my throat.

Last week we had a late celebration for Sebs birthday. I baked kardemumma bullar and we had a 'make your own semla' party! It was so much fun, and for me who dosen't like mandelmassa that much we had bluberry jam. It was delicius! And especially the kardemumma bullar form Leilas cookbook!

I was wondering a little of everybodys summer plans. Seb and I are going to se U2 in Chicago the 6th of July, then we are going home with my family in the end of july... We think.. So what are peoples door plans for this summer?

I have lost my vocie. Last week I had a little bit of a cold but I practised anyway like I normaly do when I have a cold. I make sure that my pulse is steady. Saturday I spent 5 hours coaching my girls. My body felt fine but my throat was really sore and hoarse. Sunday we had to go a far way to play Svedala away. I took a couple of alvedon and hoped for the best. But half way there, we took the train, I knew there was no way I could warm-up. I felt so tierd and out of it. On the way home it only got worse even tough I took some more painkillers. When I got home I fell a sleep, waking up 2 hours later freezing and sweating. I was thinking 'this is how it feels to have a fever'. I haven't had one for such a long time. Anyhow, to make a long story short I have a infection in my vocalcords and I have been told not to speak for 10 days. It feels really stupid because it's something singers get not me. And I can't practise for 10 days! So I'm sitting here at home, bored, watching day time tv and drinking te.

Finally I have settled down a little after christmas, new year and school starting.

Christmas;

was really nice. We had a lot of snow so this time it really felt like a 'real' cristmas. I heard that I got a pretty scarf from SUE, but my mom has not come around to actually give it to me yet. The thing I love about christmas is, besides from all the food, is just haning around with family and friends for a couple of day. Without the school/work stress that usually interferes.

New Years

Seb and I hang out with about 10 people. Some are Sebs friends from 7th grade.
One of the guys got a girlfriend, Linda, and they have been togheter now from 7 years. Lindas best friend was in the same class as Seb.
A few boy-/girlfriends later we are a solid crew that play boardgames every sunday night after the volleyball games.

So for new years eve all of us had dinner at my and Sebs apartment. Delicious food, a very amuseing music game and some dancing. We walked out to watch the fireworks, there is a nice look out point close to were we live. Then we walked back to have dessert and a few of my volleyball friends came along. It was a very nice evening and I am so grateful to have nice, calm friends that didn't tear up my apartment during the night.

The day after we had some people over who helped us clean. We made our own pizza and played 'the mexican train game' the reat of the day.

School

It's a crazy school schedule now. I only have two more weeks to go! After that I have a 8 weeks of project work, and then 10 weeks of internship. After that it's graduation time! (and I have to grow up and try to get a job during the economic crisis, bad timing...)

Volleyball
It has its ups and downs right now. We lost a tight 5 set game last week. A game we 'had' to win. But for this weekends away game against Svedala our new american, Ashlee Fisher is ready to go. She went to Marquette, and is from Wisconsin! We really needed a hard hitting leftside, so I hope that she can live up to the expectations. For me I have been playing good, but not getting that much playing time. Well, probably more than anybody thought, but I always think it's to little!

I had a lovley birthday.

First I had a nice breakfast with family and friends.

Then some shopping at the Boomerang sale. Where I found a really nice cardigan, priced down from 1999:- to 500:-. The zipper "hook" was missing so I got it for 100:-. Mom would have been proud!

Practise 16-20. Wonderful spagetti and köttfärssås for dinner and a Make-your-own-icecream-sundae with cookie dough, rasberries, homemade chocolate sauce, bananas, meringue and thoose rolled up chocolat sticks. Delicious!

Saturday we played against Lindesberg and it was a really important game for us to win. And we finally did after 2 1/2 hours of playing! I played consistent and did I tell you that we won?!

It's been a long time since my last entry. Since november 9th I have;

- Had a cold and sore throat for two weeks
- Lost the Swedish Cup final
- Won 3-1 against Elverket and 3-0 against RIG
- Had a week off from school when my class was on a trip to Paris. Unfortunately I was sick and just layed in my bed all week instead of enjoying my free time.
- Had a wonderful birthday party for the swedish relatives and got a Food processor!
- Had some light anxiety over my portfolio that I keep avoiding.

But I'm very happy that the first of advent is on sunday. Only three more weeks of school and christmas in a month!

Yesterday we had our first real game of the season. The opponent was Gislaved and we finally won (3-2)! It was the first game I ever started in the elitserie so I was pretty excited. I made some poor decisions, but over all played a good game. I am learning from every play.

This week I don't have any classes since my program is in Gothenburg to be at some fair. But since I have practise I get to stay home, and it is very nice to have some free time. So today I have just been reading and drawing. And tomorrow I am going to be a good girl cleaning and getting some laundry done. Then mom and I are going to IKEA and Barkaby to get some pretime christmas shopping, eat meatballs and talk.

Now it's time for lunch and then I'm going home to vaxmora to have coffee with my mom and hopefully order some clothes before practise tonight!

Last week was a good week. I had classes four days, monday off so I could sleep in after our big trainingcamp last weekend.

Wednesday evening my firend johanna came over and had dinner with us. I haven't seen her since begining of september I think. We had lasanga, cheese and homebaked bread. Practises were good all week.

Saturday I had a nice, long walk with my friend Caroline. We walked for over an hour in the beautiful, sunny, chilly weather. Then I spent some time with mom and had lunch with her.

Sunday we went to Orebro to play a exhibitiongame. We got our asses kicked, and were pretty misreble on the way home. But hopefully we got wiser. But when I got home Seb and his sister was baking kanelbullar (cinnamonbuns) since it was kanelbullensdag. Yes, we have a day dedicaded to a bun. Then a bunch of friends came over and we watched the soccergame Elfsborg - AIK. A very good end to a long day.

Today I have been in school all morning and know I have to work on a paper that is due on thurday.

Another week has passed. Tuesday and thursday I worked at my old internship company Intellecta and helped them with som CAD drawings. It was fun too see everyone again, but I am pretty happy to still be in school. Friday I was off and spent the day at Bosön, the swedish natinal sportscenter. Seb and I are helping a guy how is doing research about explosive sports. So we work out with him every other week. Friday evening after volleyball my team and I went out to Cissis summer place and sat in the sauna and in their hot tub. Really cozy and relaxing. Came home saturday afternoon and did not study as planned...

This is the team this year. Some new faces. The team feels completely different from last year, but it's still good!

Yesterday we had practise from 10-11.30 and then from 13-15. It was a lot of fun to hang out with the girls all day and get some more volleyball in. Later in the evening Emma and Albin had a party at their place. Some wine, talk and 6 hours later I could walk just a cross the street to get home. Very nice to have friends that close by. Today I won't be able to do anything but study. It's almost raining and there's not any good TV shows on until tonight so I will be fine. It's just hard to focus when the subject is Logistics. Not very fun or intresting at all.

So... School's started. Agian. Today we had our first exame. Three hours of cramp in my hand. It is scary that one summer can make you feel so out of shape when it comes to taking notes and writing all day long.

Volleyball is fun, and hard. Even tough I feel in good physical shape, there is still a lot missing in terms of skills. Practises are intense, we are only 9 players right know, but the competition level is high.

I think I am going to start bloging a little bit more often. I really have to practise writing in english.

Last night Seb and I went to Globen to see Coldplay. It was amazing! I've never been to Globen before and just that was an experience. The consert was great. They have so many fantastic song to choose from so of course my favourite ones were left out. And only one encore seemed a little cheap. But it was nice to do something on our night of just the two of us.

Some very small pictures of me and my team. We have so much fun. This weekend we went down to Katrineholm and played two games. The first against Katrineholm we won 3-0. The second against Norsjö we won 3-1. Undefeted this season!

And this election thing is hard to figure out. I have to apply for a social security number at the embassy, mon-fri 9-11. I go to school from 9-16 everyday, so I have no idea how to get it all together.

I enjoy going to school again. After four weeks of business classes, we finally have started some creative classes. This week we started a class called DigitalGraphics.

Yes, we have moved in to the apartment. We don't have internet yet, so I will put in pictures later. All the clothes are in the closet, so it's just all the boxes with books, photos, cds, and some junk thats left. The bathroom turned out great! But the firdge and freezer that we orders won't come until week 21. So we had to buy a firdge off "blocket" for 50 kronor. It was cheep enough for us. :-)

Both the men's and the women's team are in the semifinals!
The snowy pictures are from the trip up to Norsjö in northern Sweden. We went there on Tuesday for our second quarterfinal.

Small steps forward

We, or should I say Seb, have cleaned out most of the wall pieces that were on the floor. It was really dusty, well it still is. Today we went to Hyreshuset and rented a “flex slip”. I have no idea what it’s called in English. We have sanded most of the walls in the living room and hall. Today we also finished the second bedroom, Morgondis. It’s practical to name the rooms after the color that they’re painted in, since they’re so many rooms! Tomorrow we are going to sand the walls some more and paint in Soft Green again.

It has been snowing so much these last couple of days. Since Thursday morning the ground has been layered with a thick (1/2 dm…) coat of snow. During the day it’s been snowing for a minute and then the sun has been shining and it has felt like spring. April weather they call it.

This week we been doing a lot of work. We teard down the wall between the livingroom and the kitchen, ripped down the "valv" and started painting. The apartment is lighter now with the wall gone. It feels good to get so much work done. So when the bathroom guys come it will go quick and we can move in as soon as they finished.

När vi sprutat vatten på tapetern så gick det mycket lättare att skrapa bort.
